- Put some layers of auto clear-coat on the armor for protection
- Sanded down the swords, removed edges and pointy tips so con security will hopefully let me pose with the sword out
- Finished stitching main harness
- Added eyelets for shoulder guard attachment
I’m not happy with the paint job on the blade – it was auto paint, and I think it was too humid over the weekend to dry properly. I’ll likely sand that down and try again soon.
Still to do:
- Belt
- Connecting strap from chestplate to belt
- Gloves / bracers
- Make sure boots are in good shape
- Finalize paint details on swords and other props

The blade kind of looks cool in a “weathered” sort of way… but yeah, I know that’s not really what you were trying to go for. Hope the humidity will cooperate with you; it’s like, crazy humid over here. And con security… sigh. I wasn’t allowed to carry around my mini-shovel for Holly at AMA… clearly I prefer MAGFest because they let me carry my weapons around with me.

Was it a real mini-shovel, or a prop?
I had problems with my original Gourry at A-Kon, they decided my resin blade was too sharp. Fanime said it was cool, so long as I didn’t do anything stupid with it. I’ll bring sandpaper and paint in case I need to dull the blade more for Otakon.

A real mini-shovel… so yeah, “live steel” blah blah, but seriously, that thing is tiny. (And still in my backseat, I really should get it out of the car, but it may come in handy…) Still think you should do that jagged version of Requiem for MAGFest, they’d totally let you tote that around.

It was either that Requiem (it was also his 2p default weapon in Soul Calibur 3), or his version of Soul Calibur. Requiem will be easier, though.
